Securing funding and developing product

SiGMA Euro-Med – AIBC Stage·Malta·

At SiGMA Euro-Med 2025, I joined the AIBC Stage panel on securing funding and developing product — a conversation recorded as episode 173 of the iGaming World: Day to Day podcast. The panel brought together founders and investors to work through the practical realities of building AI startups in the iGaming space.

The Core Discussion

The session covered the gap between what investors expect from AI startups and what founders actually experience building them. In iGaming specifically, that gap is wider than most — the compliance layer, the pace of regulatory change, and the reluctance of operators to share proprietary data all create friction that general AI investment frameworks do not account for. I argued that founders who treat compliance as a moat, not a cost, raise on better terms.

On the Sidelines

The same week, SiGMA News published a longer interview on AI in iGaming — covering the difference between how Europe and Asia are approaching AI adoption, hyper-personalisation, and responsible gambling. It ran as a standalone piece and covered ground that the panel format did not have time for.
