To quit or not to quit that is the question – Quit Smoking – Day 2

So as some of you know, I turned 29 last weekend and I decided it was time to give myself a gift worth more than any material thing.

Having smoked for the past 13 years, the effect of nicotine was starting to show its teeth and so as of Monday I am no longer a smoker.

Cold turkey? Why not vape?

This is a question I’ve been asked before, and to be fair we don’t know what damage vaping is doing. Yes I know that many people are going to say things like: vaping is less harmful than cigarettes, or can you prove that vaping is bad? And my answer will simply be: can you prove that it is not?

Is it hard to quit smoking?

It’s been about a day and a few hours now, and the cravings are much less scary than I thought. Yes I feel hungry all the time, but that is something I’m used to, and I know that I can overcome that by drinking lots of water.

What about being on edge? Now this one is completely real! Smoking calms you down, the effect is tranquil and serene, and without the nicotine everything seems a bit sharper. But is it really a bad thing? Food tastes better, emotions are heightened, mornings less foggy.

Results so far
Ok so I make it seem like I have conquered it already, but I know for a fact that this is just the tip of the ice berg. There is alcohol to deal with, days on the boat, surrounded by smokers… so many uphill battles, but ones I’ll take one step at a time.

I will be posting every couple of hours with updates so do stay tuned 🙂
